BAE Systems is seeking a Test Equipment Engineer (TEE) for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business location in Fort Wayne, IN. Being a trusted provider of aerospace solutions, the CAS business develops, produces, and services advanced and highly reliable electronic controls for the leading manufacturers of commercial and military aircraft including their flight and propulsion systems. As a member of BAE Systems’ team, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls and solve challenging technical problems that both enhance our products performance and matter to our customers.

In this Test Equipment Engineer role, the qualified candidate will design and support test equipment used in the development, production, and aftermarket lifecycle phases of our products. Responsibilities include design, integration, and maintenance of automated test equipment – in-house or third-party hardware (ex. test stations, fixtures, cables) and software – used to perform in-circuit and/or functional acceptance testing of electronic hardware. Primary duties of a Test Equipment Engineer include effectively executing project plan commitments, and managing the configuration and release of test equipment in accordance with engineering defined product test specifications. Additionally, a TEE is responsible for interfacing with Design Engineering in Endicott, NY during development and integration phases of new products, as well as supporting repair and maintenance activities for equipment installed at BAE Systems’ locations around the world. Performance accountability is provided through Program Management, Engineering leadership, and Operations to maintain alignment with business needs.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely in the Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing facility. Some light travel may be required (<10%). Required Education, Experience, & Skills BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Electronics troubleshooting and instrument familiarity (analog, digital, power, communications). Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and critical thinking. Ability to interpret and implement requirements specifications. General understanding of test equipment design and development. Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Experience automating test equipment instrumentation (ex. power supplies, meters, oscilloscopes) for manufacturing and acceptance test, fault diagnosis, and isolation. Experience programming in various software environments (ex. Basic, UNIX, C++, NI LabVIEW, NI Test Stand, Visual Studio, Python etc.) Experience working in a high-paced manufacturing environment. Experience with statistical process control techniques and analytical tools (ex. 6 Sigma) Ability to propose, quote, and execute product test equipment project plans.
