Company: Crown Equipment Corporation Position Title: Systems Engineer 3 Location: 44 S. Washington St., New Bremen, OH 45869 Responsibilities: Perform product engineering duties focusing on how electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems operate over a wide spectrum of applications and environments to improve the design and development of forklifts and material handling equipment. Conceive, develop and evaluate electro-mechanical systems including software controls, specifications and performance analysis for lift trucks. This intermediate level position works under limited supervision and may lead the work of others. This position reports to a Group Leader or Chief Engineer. Propose system definitions or specifications to meet a given set of guidelines. Propose plans for system development, testing and review. Work with engineering product teams to refine requirements. Offer and document alternative system concepts to meet definitions or specifications. Develop system concepts into a functional prototype. Model vehicle functions using modeling tools and generate functional software. Operate lift trucks and troubleshoot system as needed. Design specific testing and perform analysis of system to ensure that performance goals are met and that design integrity is maintained and conforms to Company and industry standards. Participate in risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs). Document and communicate the system design, the design process and the test for critical review and decision making. Monitor, document and communicate development progress with respect to plans. Identify and communicate needs for specific analytical design and analysis tools, critically review commercially leavailable tools and make recommendations. Travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday. Support other functional groups such as purchasing, legal, service and manufacturing. Perform other duties as assigned. Remote work available. 60% travel to home office required. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, and two (2) years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related role. Employer will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, and five (5) years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related role. Two (2) years of experience with: Electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and processes; Electronics circuit design including GPU and Heads Up Display; Robotic, modeling and simulation tools for system design and analysis, including Image Processing; System design and integration, including hands-on development and trouble-shooting of electro-mechanical or vehicle systems; Modeling tools and simulation tools for system design and analysis, including MATLAB, Simulink, and Vector CANalyzer; Software architecture, state diagrams, and C/C++/Python code; Version control software including Jira, SVN, and IBM; and Batteries, inverters, converters and thermal management.
