BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The Supply Chain Planning Engineer will assist in the development of innovative solutions to solve supply chain problems. These initiatives will lower cost, improve service, and enhance operational effectiveness. The Supply Chain Planning Engineer will use strong technical skills combined with demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills in transportation and distribution solution development.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures, and guidelines:
Collects data and performs statistical analysis
Maps and documents processes
Recommends and implements process improvement
Establishes and implements performance measures
Conducts Supply Chain and/or inventory analyses
Redesigns and/or reengineers logistics processes
Supports business development and creates efficient designs and solutions
Determines efficient utilization of capacity by analyzing layouts, labor force, equipment, and transportation along with forecasted demand.
Works with Supply Chain and DC Operations Managers to implement efficient, competitive solutions
Manages projects that vary in size and complexity
Applies Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Statistical Process Controls (SPC) tools
Assists in the development and delivery of presentations to leadership as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s Degree is required preferably in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification preferred
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND:
Minimum 3 years of experience in any of the following areas: transportation management, dedicated fleet operations, distribution center management, materials handling, decision support systems, and technologyStrong communications skills
Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications
Well organized with high attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrates the ability to learn technical skills quickly
Knowledge of transportation and distribution operations, fleet operations, distribution center management, materials handling, decision support systems, and technology
Experience preparing and presenting oral and written presentations to management and clients
Basic knowledge of the following is highly desired: VBA, Python, R, Matlab, Java, C++
Experience with supply chain technology (Appian, JDA, LLamasoft, Manugistics, Blue Yonder, etc.)
Demonstrates data manipulation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Programming skills to manipulate large datasets
Experience with routing and scheduling packages and transportation optimization software
AutoCAD , Warehouse Management System (WMS) or applied Inventory Analysis tools
Basic understanding of optimization and/or simulation algorithms
Database skills, especially through SQL or Access
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English
.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION (% of time, description, nature of service):
Office equipment including computer, copier, fax, phone, printer
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Typical office environment with travel to warehouse or manufacturing sites.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
20% travel required.
