As an experienced structural engineer, you will manage and oversee the day-to-day effort for structural engineering projects, coordinate directly with clients and company leadership, mentor junior engineering staff, and help to ensure the highest possible level of quality throughout the firm.A Day in the life of a Structural Engineer: Lead the structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion and/or construction.Perform analysis and design calculations for a variety of materials and conditions including concrete, steel, masonry, and soil/foundations.Perform detailed structural design for water and wastewater treatment facilities by working with other project team members to understand and integrate their requirements into the structural design, coordinating design details between various project design disciplinesCommercial and Industrial structural engineering design and detailing skillsReview vendor and contractor shop drawings.Coordinate with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections/observations, and testing of materials.Leads field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.· Prepare and present technical reports· Manage engineering design and document production· Participate in the management of project budgets, scope, and scheduling· Create and document processes as they evolve· Provide QAQC of projectsQualifications: Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with a structural focus preferredMaster of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus a plus3 – 5 years structural engineering experienceRegistration as a Professional or Structural Engineer (Preferred)Demonstrated ability in the design of concrete and steel structures and foundationsBasic knowledge of Structural design codes and standards including but not limited to IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7)Basic computer skills in structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, Enercal, TEKLA TEDDs, TEKLA Structural Designer)Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniquesStrong verbal and written communication skillsWork well in a team environmentHave the ability to communicate effectively with clients and the project teamHighly motivated, articulate, and self-startingProficient in MS Word and ExcelPreferred Qualifications: Experience in the design of water treatment structures and other industrial facility projects including energyExperience with leading the discipline design for medium to large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
