Scope of Position:
This position is for a Senior Process Modeling Engineer with responsibilities to support Corning’s process and product development. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of flow dynamics, heat and mass transfer phenomena in the material processing industry. The candidate should have demonstrated the hand-on experience in applying first principles and using commercial software in solving complex problems. We are looking for a team player who can work with other modeling engineers to provide the end-to-end modeling support for Corning’s process and product innovations.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Partner with cross-functional teams to define the problems to solve
Develop the modeling approach and execute
Analyze the modeling results and communicate with the customers
Assist customers in implementing solutions
Participate and lead group technical discussions
Capture IPs on new ideas
Bring in new modeling tools and grow new capabilities
Education and Experience:
Ph.D.in Engineering or Science disciplines with over 3 years of industrial experience
In-depth knowledge on fluid flow, heat and mass transfer
Strong hand-on skills on using commercial CFD software
Experience in developing large models required by the complex underlying physics
Programming skills to expand the usability of the commercial software to meet the requirement
Strong skills in verbal and written communication
Ability to learn quickly on new analytical tools and methods
Ability of data analysis using statistics
Ability to simplify the complex models to utility tools for wider user base.
Working effectively across multi-cultural and geographically diverse team
Managing multiple tasks and prioritizing to meet customer’s needs
Ability to self-management under uncertainty
