|Job Description :||Summary: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in the success of the organization by helping to ensure that Cascade Designs products are made as safely and efficiently as possible while maintaining the high level of quality that our customers have come to expect. They are fundamental in our mission by supporting both the industrialization of new products as well as the continuous improvement of current, in-line, processes. Primary Responsibilities: Design for Manufacturing: Collaborates with product designers, supply chain, quality, and operations teams to achieve optimal balance of high-quality product design with material, labor, tooling, and operating cost. Evaluates the costs and benefits for options within a given project over the product life cycle and presents findings for review by the project team. Production Equipment & Tooling: Leads projects involving the selection, design, and development of new production equipment, as well as updates and enhancements to legacy equipment with, little to no guidance. Develops product-specific tooling & dies for updated items in existing product lines. Maintains oversight of initial sample product as well as production equipment and process validation/qualification efforts. Process Development & Improvement: Develops optimized manufacturing processes that promote safe work practices while minimizing waste. Estimates labor requirements, production capacity and yield for new and updated products. Establishes key performance indicators (KPI’s) and labor routings for new and updated manufacturing processes. Drives adherence to target KPI’s through collaboration with operations, quality, and maintenance teams. Leads process improvement initiatives to increase quality and reduce manufacturing costs with little to no guidance Proactively seeks out opportunities for process improvement within manufacturing operations, independently builds business case for proposed action, and presents findings & recommendations to leadership for approval. Project Management: Acts as Project Manager for assigned new product development (NPD) projects, from approval for commercialization (AFC) through approval for sale (AFS). Leads manufacturing continuous improvement projects from ideation through completion, including any identified sustainment or follow up actions, with little to no guidance. Documentation & Training: Provides disposition of non-conformance reports (NCR’s) when required Creates and updates bills of material (BOM’s), bills of labor, tooling specifications, work instructions (WI’s) and other documents related to manufacturing operations through established change management processes. Develops any necessary training materials to ensure production operators, leaders, and maintenance personnel understand manufacturing requirements. Leads the development of standards and templates for internal Manufacturing Engineering team. Root Cause Analysis: Leads root-cause analysis (RCA) efforts to identify meaningful corrective actions to rectify production issues, with little to no guidance. Prepares RCA reports and communicates findings to all levels within the organization. Qualifications: Education & Certification: Minimum 4-year degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or 6 years equivalent experience required. Advanced degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering a plus. Lean or 6-sigma certification a plus. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus. Experience: 8+ years of experience in a similar role. 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with products of similar complexity. Comprehensive understanding of project management principles required. Thorough understanding of process improvement principles and techniques required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications required. Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are essential. SharePoint, Forms, Power Automate, Project, Power BI a plus. Experience with statistical process control (SPC) a plus. Solid modeling experience required (Solidworks preferred). Experience preparing, reading, and interpreting technical drawings required (experience with ASME Y14.5 a plus). PLC Programming experience a plus (RSLogix or similar). Experience with machine design for manufacturing operations a plus. Experience with a wide range of manufacturing techniques, including but not limited to: Injection molding Casting Sheet metal Machining Permanent joining (riveting, ultrasonic welding) Textile welding (thermal, radio frequency) Cut & sew Experience with basic shop, lab, and inspection tools required. Working Conditions: Mix of office and production floor Time in factory environment may include hot, cold, or noisy conditions Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35lbs Must be able to maintain CDI safety standards Flexible hours, with supervisor’s approval Adherence to company attendance standards is expected This is intended to describe the general nature and level of work done by people assigned to this job.
