Job Description : Position Purpose
The Quality Engineer is a trusted subject matter expert that analyzes the quality of the products provided to our valued Saxco Customers. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for onboarding new suppliers, partnering with existing supply partners on continuous improvement efforts, and provide technical and quality support for our customers to drive a positive outcome.
Primary responsibilities:
Qualify and evaluate quality systems on-site at supplier locations to implement robust preventive controls
Coordinate efforts with suppliers and third-party labs as needed to conduct timely root cause analysis
Support Customer Packaging Center (CPC) initiatives to drive resolution on quality issues
Serve as liaison between suppliers and our customers to investigate, assess, and resolve product quality concerns surfaced by customers and sales personnel to achieve amicable resolution
Represent Saxco as the quality subject matter expert in meetings with customers with outcomes and recommendations
Provide and support customer training and education on packaging design and quality expectations
Support customer line audits and new package start-up activities
Support new product development (NPD) activities as quality lead on new sourcing strategies
Additional RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop company and supplier initiatives for quality improvement based on trends and customer initiatives
Recommend measures to improve the quality of distributed products and internal processes
Support the review and revision of material specifications
Support cost savings and cost avoidances initiatives
Extensive travel domestically with limited international travel
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
Four (4) year degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or scientific fields from an accredited college or equivalent institution and four (4) years of experience working with rigid packaging such as glass, aluminum, and PET containers plastic and aluminum closures, or corrugated fiber. Or 8 years of experience working with rigid packaging components in a quality or technical role.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting or working in wineries; breweries or food manufacturing automation and process.

Demonstrated ability to lead multiple, simultaneous quality assurance efforts, and a track record as a mentor while providing quality assurance leadership to customers, suppliers, and company representatives.

Excellent written and communication skills

Expertise in Windows Office programs

Ability to work in confined spaces and near operating equipment

Ability to work in loud nose environments

Ability to left 30lbs
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A proactive team player with a bias for action; a clear cultural asset who brings high energy and a constructive approach to fostering a collaborative environment

Anticipate customer needs by taking initiative to ensure that quality concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.

Proficient working in ERP systems and Business Intelligence software for analyzing large data sets.

Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication, adjusting the message to the audience; excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

Ability to influence cross-functional change and create/build relationships at all levels of the organization.

Maintains a high level of integrity and interpersonal communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Values accuracy and transparency when generating reports for key business decisions.
American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications such as the Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
Experience in implementing or managing ISO 9001 and/or GFSI Food Safety Systems such as FSSC 22000, SQF, or IFS.
