ABOUT THE POSITION: SVP Worldwide is seeking a Quality Engineer who is smart, curious, and loves the challenge of figuring out how things work. You’ll collaborate with a team who loves the details as they determine whether various sewing machine products meet the standards of the business in reliability, durability and functionality. The Quality Engineer participates in all phases of North America Quality Operations as well as needed integration into the overall Global Quality thru initiatives and daily interface with other departments. Working with customer service, warranty and service and warehousing in support of overall Quality operations at SVP Worldwide. Key responsibilities are: Interface with customer service on a daily basis to investigate and identify trends in consumer complaints and defects as communicated through the CS teams. Working with Amazon on Andon Cord submittals to ensure these are handled quickly and within a 24 hour feedback loop. Set up and run warehouse audits on key returned products based on % of returns as defined by Quality Data, support the audits with reports and pictorial reports to support corrective actions. Implementing with North America Quality Manager to put new Quality standards in place and effectively implement corrective actions on key defects for the company. Devises Quality tests as needed in support of defective and returned products, supporting the corrective action process. Initiates corrective actions in CAR portal in support of driving corrective actions back to our Global Quality team and the OEM suppliers. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies; achieving American Society of Quality Control Certified Quality Engineer qualification. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations Performs on-site audits of third party repair center’s prepared new goods and returns that are processed, checking overall quality and releasing or rejecting goods upon review. Publish reports based on all findings. Develops sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods Interact with manufacturing and engineering teams to understand metrology and adherence to engineering specifications. Ability to read mechanical drawings. Evaluate, document, and repair as needed all out of box returns from wholesale and retail accounts. Optimize documentation related to quality and inspection checks. Work with Technical Service Groups, Consumer affairs, and Dealers to record and help resolve reported concerns. Document all findings from concerns with the Quality Control Manager and follow up with responsible parties for corrective actions Quality Engineering Skills and Qualifications: Analyzing Information , Reporting Research Results, Technical Understanding, Promoting Process Improvement, Developing Standards, Managing Processes, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Supports Innovation, Quality Engineering, Operations Research, attention to detail, Analysis/Critical Thinking/Problem Solving Skills, Communication Skills, Ethics, Interpersonal Skills and Math Skills. Education/Experience: High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred, QA Certifications attainment, 5 year of more in Quality Operations, Vocational Technical Training a plus. Previous sewing machine repair a plus; Electronics, electrical, or engineering education a plus. Familiarity with computers including Google Suite and using G-mail. Experience using hand tools. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
