Summary The Product & Project Manager is responsible for positioning our Mobile Material Handling business unit for long-term growth and success by working with the management team to develop a focused plan for development of new products, enhancements on existing products, expansion of aftermarket and approaches to grow our business. This position will plan, lead, and coordinate a steady stream of new and improved products that are founded in voice-of-customer, differentiated from competition and relevant to our target customer base. This position must convert unmet customer needs into robust product road maps helping expand and build compelling value propositions. The Product & Project Manager will successfully own the product roadmap from concept through commercialization and will be accountable for delivering revenue, margin, market share goals as well as ensuring quality, cost and delivery of the product portfolio. Responsibilities Market Analysis and Development – ~ 30% Maintain constant awareness of the marketplace and identify trends, regulatory impacts and customer needs. Develop and maintain a thorough analysis of competitors, product offerings, potential competitive products and competitor capabilities. Advance a plan for collecting voice of the customer data to incorporate into product development efforts. Translate market data and the voice of the customer into customer needs definition New Product Development– ~ 30% Cultivate new product requirements with engineering and sales teams Foster comprehensive business case for new products including all internal and external factors Assemble needed information to support stage gate reviews and provides critical analysis to help management make good decisions Create a thorough aftermarket strategy for each new product Gather customer feedback on prototypes and adjust plans accordingly Partner with sales and finance to establish pricing strategies Partner with sales on the sales strategy and product testing partners. Advise engineering, product support, manufacturing and supply chain groups of technical issues, potential solutions or product enhancements to mitigate negative impact and product or grow the overall business. Prepare and monitor forecasts, market analysis, as well as competitor and product performance reports. Identify and execute potential process improvements (i.e. sales forecast, pricing, product development, product configuration). Evaluate and analyze with team, risks and issues compromising project/product results and develop plans to mitigate them. Prepare and present regular internal and external project reports for management. Assist with evaluating schedule impacts arising from sourcing decisions. Monitor and control the growth of the product through development with Engineering. Improve product roadmaps for all existing products inclusive of product positioning Develop product portfolio plans include product rationalization Collaborate with sales and finance on product pricing strategies Prepare and present customer proposals and product presentations. Liaise with technical product support, engineering personnel and sales and service managers. Project Management – ~40% Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy Communicating with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change Create and maintain project/product capital and non-capital spending plan. Initiate and maintain project/product financial justification. Miscellaneous projects as assigned Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing or Business or a related discipline. MBA preferred Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in product/project management New Product Development Engineering Project Engineering Business Strategy Development Marketing Exposure to Heavy Equipment in B to B markets Aftermarket parts, services, and solutions Proficiency – Microsoft Office Applications including MS Project Technical aptitude and experience with market analysis, strategic planning, and capital equipment sales, and basic financial modeling and calculations preferred Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills Must be comfortable traveling between 25% – 40% All salaried new hires must be fully vaccinated or be willing to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, where permitted by applicable law and subject to requests for accommodation.
