Position Overview The candidate will join the Manufacturing Engineering team of Romeo Power’s battery module manufacturing line. In this role, you will lead the development, deployment, validation and support of automated manufacturing systems while working with design engineers, system vendors and contract manufacturers. You will report to the Director of Operations and Manufacturing. Key Roles and Responsibilities Innovate, modify and deploy PLC and HMI software to support operational changes and improvements on the plant floor to drive Safety, Quality, Productivity, Line efficiency, and Predictive Maintenance/Cost Organize all of plant’s automation documentation, such as – PLC programs, machine manuals, schematics, HMI files, etc. into a company-wide Automation Vault. May use automation software that backs up programs into the Vault automatically. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to plant leadership Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders on projects related to automated solutions to improve plant operation, increase safety, reduce cost and increase efficiency Specify hardware requirements and assist in the software development of systems dedicated to capturing process information related to OEE, FPY, Scrap, Rework, productivity, downtime analysis, and predictive maintenance Learn and work with internal MES system to include LMS controlled changeovers Learn the function of all line equipment and how they operate and communicate to be better equipped for fast troubleshooting Recognize potential problems with existing equipment and develop solutions with the ability to adapt to various engineering designs, applications, and process criteria Assist in safety improvements throughout the plant Actively participate in a fast-paced, team environment; ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained Maintain technical skills and knowledge and continuously updating them Proactively report on project progress against schedule Basic Qualifications Minimum 5 years experience of PLC programming of Allen Bradley Controls, CompactLogix and/or ControlLogix platforms or Siemens equivalent Understand and use ladder logic, structured text and AOI’s Experience with automated equipment used in production environment Working knowledge of IEEE-488 and SCIPI, RS-232/422, ModBus and Ethernet interfaces Experience with HMI’s, SCADA (preferably Ignition) Ability to flow chart a process and properly document Good working knowledge of digital and analog circuits Strong troubleshooting skills Experience in Python programming language a plus Able to support production requirements after hours as necessary BS Degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering Romeo Power is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws or our own sensibilities.|
