The Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for managing, coordinating and driving the execution of Wabtec’s Trip Optimizer™ Energy Management projects. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with Program Management, Engineering Management and railroad customers to ensure the projects meet customer requirements and commitments.
Essential Responsibilities
Translate customer needs, project requirements and basis of estimate (BOE) into detailed project plans while driving internal execution to meet project milestones.
Manage project timeline/development schedule and ensure internal resources and external dependencies are aligned to complete project deliverables per plan.
Work cross-functionally to ensure continuity, consistency and critical to quality tasks are completed.
Provide project leadership for the engineering team. Maintain and track project tasks, features and action items. Work with the team to develop solutions to problems. Identify and escalate project risks to ensure on time delivery commitments and cost targets are met.
Assist in the deployment and monitoring of the product. Monitor product and customer reported issues and ensure defects are logged, assigned and tracked to completion.
Participate in development of proposals for projects as required.
Ensure that delivered products achieve highest quality and performance levels.
Be able to think critically and creatively to develop solutions that enable the best outcomes for the business.
Develop metrics and scorecards to measure key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze and drive improvements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Engineering, Application Engineering, Systems Engineering, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Data Information Systems.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science.
Experience developing reports with Microsoft Power BI
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment.
Locomotive Systems Design Experience is a plus.
Railroad Industry Experience is a plus
Prior project execution experience with large-scale software projects and the ability to lead and motivate high potential technical project teams is preferred .
Self-starter with the ability to lead with minimum supervision.
Strong oral and written communication skills .
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills .
