This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.
Open to Canadian Residents who are willing to commute to their US primary work location at least 60% of the time.
Develop and calibrate assigned sub-system, integrating it with overall Fuel Cell System (FCS) and test environment performance and durability requirements, for use in automotive and other applications. The Senior Calibration Engineer is an Individual contributor with recognized expertise responsible for tasks and deliverables throughout the entire product development lifecycle including requirements definition, feature design, calibration and implementation, testing, and problem resolution.

This position requires sound technical knowledge and expertise related to the functional area of responsibility. You will need prior experience and/or knowledge of mechanical hardware, instrumentation, electronics, testing, and tools related to development work. You will assist in translating business objectives to actionable work for the work group. You will support leading new processes and methods in line with departmental goals.
Define and execute development plans for calibration of functions in assigned fuel cell sub-system area and test environment area, while comprehending overall system integration needs.
Define and coordinate test requests to meet software and calibration development plans, and provide technicalinput to test engineers.
Work closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams to develop and document functional requirements.
Calibrate and implement appropriate control solutions to meet requirements.
Provide input to System Engineering and Controls team on required algorithm functional content
Review, organize, and analyze test data from development and validation test sources.
Thoroughly communicate and discuss test results within the development team.
Write and publish test reports in a timely manner, to support system level verification activities.
Identify and document system vulnerabilities and create mitigation action plans.
Define calibration tool requirements for responsible sub-system area.
Establish and maintain calibration procedural documentation for responsible sub-system area.
Interface with System Engineering, Controls, and Design teams as needed.
Act as Development and Calibration representative in sub-system workgroups.
Provide technical input to other engineers for root cause analysis.
Additional Job Description
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Electrical, Chemical, or equivalent.
5 years of propulsion system related engineering experience.
Experience working on automotive embedded control systems
Experience in Matlab/Simulink/State Flow or similar CAE tools
Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition hardware and software tools.
Knowledge of statistical methods.
Ability and motivation to learn new technologies and employ system engineering and controls to make such technologies practical.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
7-10 years system development, calibration, and application experience.
MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Controls, Electrical, Chemical or equivalent.
Experience with and knowledge of PEM fuel cell systems.
Experience using ETAS/INCA, dSpace/ControlDesk, GTE/Labview applications
DFSS Back belt
Ability to travel as required, domestically and internationally.
