Sigma is actively seeking a Fire Protection Engineer who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations. Location: Amarillo, Texas or Albuquerque, New Mexico
What You Will Do:
Perform Fire Hazards Analysis (FHA) for assigned facilities, including timed egress and tenability analysis, using the Fractional Effective Dose (FED) method.
Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)/ Single Point Failure Analysis (SPFA).
Review and/or re-write existing fire protection procedures as necessary.
Provide written fire protection opinions/interpretations on project issues.
Review and comment on design changes, including temporary modifications, and support resolution of design-related issues.
Provide input during the development of operating, maintenance, test plans and procedures.
Review Design Change Packages (DCPs) to ensure that fire protection interactions with supporting systems are appropriately considered.
Review work packages as assigned for fire protection issues and compliance.
Develop Design Change Notices (DCNs), Engineering Operability Evaluations (EOEs), Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) analysis, and other engineering calculations and/or analysis.
Develop arguments to support Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Determinations.
Develop and provide oversight on the execution of fire protection test plans for specific issues and program requirements.
Serve as common point of interface, ensuring interdisciplinary coordination of requirements for assigned systems.
Other fire protection engineering duties as necessary and assigned.
B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering or a closely related field (advanced degree preferred)
5 years relevant experience
Proven experience utilizing computer programs and software (CFAST and FDS)
Must have Active DoD Secret or Top Secret, or DOE Q clearance
