About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU] Engineering Controls is a new group within the Transmission and Substation Engineering Design Organization that will focus on real-time performance reporting to inform decision making and monitor performance. The job of Supervisor, Engineering Controls requires an individual to be self-directed with a strong ability to oversee the creation and maintenance of reports that will support strategic initiatives, resource management, variance analysis, trends, and project status. This position will oversee a staff of business analysts, both internal and external, engaged in a wide variety of data analytics, process improvement activities, SharePoint development, and QlikView/Power BI data modeling and visualization. Responsibilities include: Overseeing the development of strategic reports and providing reporting and database support to employees to assist in their learning of standards, procedures, designs, and associated issues. Leading in-depth strategic research, analyzing data, interpreting results, and providing appropriate solutions Supporting communication across business units regarding project needs. Supporting Power BI or similar reporting technology by designing, testing, and debugging PowerBI dashboards and reports from functional specifications. Supporting and sustaining FirstEnergy as a high performing organization by contributing to excellent organizational performance and values of FirstEnergy through responsible effective work performance. Providing superior customer service by anticipating and exceeding customer needs and driving continuous improvement Actively seeking ways to build challenges and add value within scope of assignments Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the Company Recommending and implementing solutions to complex issues and assignments Actively representing Company’s interests and alignment with business unit’s interests Consistently anticipating and delivering results Developing process improvements for moderately complex work processes and/or projects Providing advice, education, and encouragement to others Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years of direct, relevant experience will be considered. A minimum of 8 years relevant experience required. Relevant work experience includes, but is not limited to, any of the following: utility experience, information technology, engineering, financial development and strategies, system planning, database administration, data reporting / visualization, or data analytics. An advanced degree or professional certification preferred. Effective supervisory practices, planning and budgeting. Must be able to supervise a large quantity of projects simultaneously and be able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines, unexpected developments, changes in project scope, budget constraints, unforeseen field problems and demands on time for work assignments outside of the normal duties. Ability to coach, counsel, and develop employees. Experience with Microsoft PowerBI or similar technology preferred – Has experience in the development, maintenance, and testing of Microsoft PowerBI reporting and dashboard solutions.
