Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer (Level 2) to support the team in Schriever, CO. Our team focus on the development of new global military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) ground systems that will manage transmission of protected tactical waveform (a type of secure, anti-jam communication) — over Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites and terminals. In addition, the Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments. Position Overview: The Associate System Engineer will be part of the highly motivated team of system engineers that provides military customer support of satellite operations and sustaining systems engineering for the Wideband Global Satellite Communications (WGS) program. The successful candidate will provide real-time routine and contingency operations support for all on-station WGS satellites. As a member of our team, you will have opportunity to learn about the WGS satellites constellation and different subsystems. You will also have opportunity to advance your career with the satellite sustainment industry and becoming a SME in your subsystem. This role will include advising the customer in satellite operations and ground command & control sustainment tasks. This position will focus on authoring, reviewing and helping execute satellite operational procedures. Configure and run simulations to support procedure validation. Provide technical recommendations to the customer engineers and operators. Perform satellite data trending and analysis so that spacecraft performance can be monitored and analyzed. Perform ground computer system software and database testing. Position Responsibilities: Advise the customers on how to operate and maintain satellites. Advise the customers on ground command & control system operations. Participate in technical meetings, author database and software change requests, Perform ground computer system software and database maintenance. Author, maintain, review and help execute satellite operations procedures. Configure and run simulations to support procedure validation. Conduct technical analysis, studies and provide recommendations. Perform satellite data trending and analysis to determine spacecraft performance. Perform problem solving and support other engineers in a team environment. Work Authorization: This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship (post-start). Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in a Technical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or similar) or 8 years of relevant satellite systems experience in leu of a degree Experience working with space or satellite systems. Experience working with SATCOM. Experience with flight test, flight operations, or system test. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience responding to anomalies for on-orbit communications satellites. Experience working closely with US Military customers in an operational and training environment. Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.).
